Trashbag supper

Sometimes you just need Roar for dinner.

Roar is the invention of my BFF's Dad. Yes, it really is tater tots, hamburger and corn smothered in ketchup. It is good, hot, filling, and fast when your tummy says ROAR!!!!

  1. Sounds OK - I had a think about this - how about tater tots, hamburger and green beans with shredded cheese on top - oh, and the smothering of ketchup? A variation on ROAR?

  2. Sometimes, there's no explaining comfort food. However, if I were to mention this to someone, my explanation might include the word "weird." Love you guys!

  3. Jason's family has a recipe called tater-tot casserole, and it is definitely not good for you, but was a favorite for him growing up. It's very similar to this, but with cheese and no ketchup, and bell pepper not corn.

  4. I think the latest Bon Appetit or Health magazine had an article on the foods we eat when we're alone. Most often they are the comfort foods we grew up with. the most vivid meals from my childhood are mac & cheese, spanish rice casserole, pancakes or tacos.

  5. Mom Lorna, you tried to pass on your love of spanish rice casserole, but it just didn't work...do any of your kids like it??

  6. My kiddos like plain Spanish rice, (bacon, onion, garlic, tomato sauce and white rice.) They of course love "real" mac & cheese and tacos, the pancakes are not Abbie's fave unless they have chocolate chips or are made with all whole wheat four. As for variations of roar, there are as many as you can think of, I figure it is kind of a trashbag hash....meat, starch and veggies cooked together in a pan doused with sauce!
