Donuts

Instead of cake, Liam requested cream filled donuts with chocolate glaze.

The project took up most of the kitchen. I have made yeast donuts only once before...this time I tried the recipe from cooks illustrated. A nice soft brioche type dough.

After a few problems with my thermometers, we got them all fried. Next up was the glazing, then the filling with lactose free pastry cream.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, donuts!!!!

  2. Totally and completely impressed. Do your children's food requests reflect an innocent and complete confidence in your abilities, or a desire to challenge you? Both?? I am convinced you can make anything, and I want to dream up something crazy for you to try!
