Goats!

I went with my friend, Zara to Wasilla this weekend to pick up her two new dairy goats. They were from a farm in Point Mackenzie, there were several different varieties of goats and lots of cute kids! I restrained myself and didn't come home with one.
We did bring back Zara's two new goats (a dwarf variety) in the back of her truck.

A great view of McKinley from the veterans memorial.

They did very well but were sure glad to get out and stretch their legs and have something to munch!

  1. Bigger than I was picturing. Do they have names? Are they stinky?

  2. They are not so big, about 2 feet tall and 75ish pounds. These ones are a little stinky, but they were with 50 or so other goats on a spring-time muddy farm. Zara's other goat (Stella, a regular sized different breed, you can see her in the fencing in the last shot) hardly smells at all so I figure these ones will be better after they have a chance to settle in at Zara's farm. Much more the pampered environment! Their names are Winnie and Mehe right now, but that could change. They also give milk right now, can't wait for the kids to see that!

  3. Wow, cool adventure! Did you try the milk? Is Zara going to make cheese?

  4. How far did you have to travel - with two goats in the back seat? Does Zara still have all the upholstery on the back seats of the truck? Did you get some curious looks as you drove down the road? WAY fun! You had to have had some serious laughs along the way!
