I have been bad at blogging this month! Well this is most of what we did yesterday:
5 cabbages from Dan and Karen, cut and salted for saurkraut.
66 pounds of pork belly skinned, cut up, and into the brine. (this isn't all of it, some is in the fridge too) And we still had time to have Lily and Kory over for dinner and a fire :) It was a good weekend!

Camp Art
While camping the kids took some time to do a few nature sculptures.
A ninja fairy village, I think this is Liam's house.
Rose's house.
In progress, notice the stone pathways.
A sand and rock sculpture by Liam.
I love that it is so easy to take pics of these to keep. Makes it much less painful to spend time making something and abandon it to the elements when you can have a photo :)

Field trip 2
Our second field trip of the year was to Georgeson Botanical Gardens. A very pretty place! The kids have been learning about plants, so this was a perfect tie in. Rose's teacher has a very strong background in Ag. Science and 4-H programs, so they should be doing a lot of study like this.
A Buddha belly cabbage.
Pretty purple yarrow.
Some kind of poppy? and a honey bee! They keep bees at the gardens and had a mini class about them for the kids. We also learned about water bugs, using our senses to find out about the gardens, herbs, edible plants, and got to run the new maze.
