I decided we must have cake too! A recipe from my 'to-make' file: a skinny, mod crazy cake (spicy chocolate, made with vinegar and soda for lofting. No butter, oil or eggs!) And our newest favorite, banana ice cream. Blended frozen bananas turns into creamy, wonderful, ice cream! Who knew?? A nice healthy birthday treat for us to celebrate the first birthday of our niece and cousin Zoe!

Fun with pets
With enough anesthesia, even my dog will be calm!
River had a lump removed from her front leg last week. It has proven to be a benign hystocytoma, but still I feel better knowing it is gone. Because of this she has had to have the dreaded cone to keep her from licking the wound. The bootie was to keep her from scratching it.
This was the first day she had to wear them...not happy. I think she was afraid she was caught in something. I gave her lots of treats to try to get her to move around on her own. It worked but had some problems of its own...
Notice the tongue, a piece of cheese got stuck between the layers of the cone! Now she is fine with it and should only need it for another few days.

Ice park
Today we went to the ice park with Grammie Lorna. Unfortunately it was about the coldest day we have had yet, but it was only 0 so not terrible. The sun was out nicely and the kids (and Mom!) had a great time sliding down the ice slides. We all admired the beautiful sculptures this year! If you would like to see this years carvings, they have a nice web page here.
